NorthWest K9 Dogs In Training

NorthWest K9's Itzak

--PLACED-- Itzak was selected by a Police K9 Unit in Washington State for Patrol Dog training and certification.

NorthWest K9's Itzak is a deeply pigmented black and tan 14-month-old male with a marvelous character and temperament. Highly animated and lively in the training, he's an especially assertive tug-o-war contender and a nut for the ball.

Itzak is a confident, highly biddable young male showing very nicely in all areas. He's sure on variable heights, surfaces, and noises. He's uninhibited with body contact, and shows a pushy assertiveness in play. Full dentition to standard; hips/elbows clear.
Drive building with the tug

Itzak is a drivey and lively young prospect. He's a natural retriever of ball and toy, retrieving enthusiastically on land and in water. He's an easy keeper in crate and kennel and while traveling in a vehicle.

He displays the best of working temperaments -- high drives that fuel the 'on' switch in play and training, yet easily settled during time-outs. Taking readily to grooming and handling, Itzak is affectionate to the handler, eliciting close body contact.

On the ball hunt
Itzak's foundation training includes commands heel, sit, down, crate, wait, jump up/jump down, find the ballee, watch it/take it/give, such, leave it and more. His foundation footstep tracking and man trailing shows a very nice work ethic and drive for the find. Foundation protection work on sleeve and bitesuit shows a mature balance of defense and aggression drives with a full, firm grip and pronounced fight drive.

Itzak is equally at ease in forest wilderness and busy urban areas. He's confident in all types of environments in daytime and nighttime hours. Gunsureness tested (pistol and rifle).

He's been exposed to machinery of all types including hydraulic compressors, HVAC, industrial floor cleaning equipment, power tools, gasoline-powered mowers and blowers, and more.

He navigates without hesitation over stairs, grandstands, logpiles, and through brush and brambles, and on wet surfaces, mud, bark, gravel, concrete, wood, slippery floors, tarps, metal, and fiberglass. His tour of the industrial rock quarry took him from hills of pea-sized gravel to small boulders, all which of he readily climbed and confidently explored.
